Just curious as to how soon everyone started driving a car again after takedown surgery. I live about 6 hrs from my surgeon and won't have anyone to drive me to and from surgery next week since my gf used up her vacation time from work when we had to go down last week when my surgery was originally scheduled (cancelled because of blockage the night before). I'm not worried about pain medication because after step one I only took it for 1 day then decided I didn't need it. I'm hoping takedown is the same. So what do you all think? Should I be able to drive myself home when released from the hospital?

I'm not even sure they'll let you drive yourself. You should call and ask them if you can. I felt excellent when I was released after 2 days in the hospital and I could have probably driven myself home. But I only lived about 1 hour away. A 6-hour drive seems pretty ambitious.

Is it possible to get released from the hospital on the weekend?

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure how most people feel after takedown. My dr. Is ok with letting patients drive as long as they are off of the pain killers before they leave. He said he will probably release me on Friday ( surgery is Tuesday morning). I could break the trip up into segments and get hotels just wasn't sure if I would feel good enough to make it out of Denver traffic or drive at all for that matter. I'm thinking I might have to do some more searching for a driver!
