Has anyone heard of or had success with Dr. Shen's doxycycline/glucose concoction to heal a sinus. My son had his 2nd pouch removed and has a persistent rectal sinus for almost 2yrs that leaks all the time. Dr. Shen wants to try inserting this solution of doxycycline/glucose. He will do the first one and my son will do it every day on his own for 4-6 weeks. We thought it was worth a try to avoid any more surgeries. But I can't really find any info on this procedure.

Definitely trust Dr. Shen, that man is amazing!!!
he typically does that for bleeding, which he has done those for me in the past for that issue. I had a sinus with my first jpouch and he performed several needle-knife therapies for that. I would ask him to clarify as a glucose/doxy will not fix a sinus.
Well we are here now at Dr Shen. My son thought that it was worth trying as it’s relatively harmless with minimal risks. My son’s sinus is not part of his pouch as his pouch was removed, twice. It’s a blind/ dead end sinus at the rectum that doesn’t connect to anything but it still leaks. Remzi can do a flap surgery but it is huge surgery with many risks and long recovery so he will give this a try. I’ll post back later if it works or not.
