My thyroid has been going crazy every since my surgeries over 2 years ago! Recently I've had to change my medication strength every 6 weeks. I have to take it that long before they re-run the test. I've been from .175 down to .88 and every dosage in between. Now I'm going back up, I went up to .100 after my test results came in at 4.7 on .88 (range is .3-4.0). Now I'm going to .125 after testing 6.8 on the .100.

I'd decreased down from those doses before as the readings dropped down to .03.

I'm stumped why this is happening. Have any of you had this problem and any advice?

My Mayo GI said the thyroid is connected to what's going on with my pouch and that it can contribute to the pouches function. I took that to mean the frequency of BM's which I still have around 8--10 daily.

Thanks!

You are not alone.

Cassiecass,

I lost a lot of weight the first year after take down, even with a messed up thyroid. I was so sick I had to make myself eat. Now I've gained some back. My hair is falling out again, another big wad in the shower drain this morning. I feel hopeless at times as I can't seem to get any of my medical problems stabilized. I'm not overeating but am also not moving much. Exercising is tough with my neuropathic feet.

I don't know what T4 is, I better study up. Thanks for the link. I take generic synthyroid and take it an hour before anything else in the mornings. I have fibromyalgia including chronic fatigue so who knows what is causing what. Migraine headaches are in the mix now.

Does your doctor think it's your thyroid causing the water retention? I've had water retention problems 2 times in the past. They were caused by new medications I was taking but not my thyroid.

Thanks again for the link. I'm going to read it tomorrow when I can hopefully concentrate better.

WWW.THYROID.ORG There is an article this week on migranes and hypothyroidism.
I hope my retention of fluid is related to the thyroid and not my heart.

T4 is the thyroid hormone,to which we are taking.Whether you take synthroid or levothyroxine it is known as T4.

If you have facebook log to and join for the latest info from the American Thyroid Association weblink. You do not have to be a nurse or Md to read.
I also have neuropathy in my feet.Hate it at night.
This week my pouch has been acting up and because of my readings here I added fruit juice to my diet.As I posted in other threads my Endo has lowered my hormone to which will cause a sluggish bowel.I can honestly say I am finally not running 24/7

Remember this daily The Thyroid effects every inch every cell in the body. Our diet our daily routine also contributes to the function as well.

I see the Gastro MD this week.I do have to be scoped again shortly cause of the findings in the last scoping..
Knowledge is Power ..read as much as you can.
I hope other thyroids tell us of their woes with the pouch.I know I am not alone.

Thanks cassiecass! (please see my PM)

The T3 and T4 are are the two things I was thinking of. They are only testing one and are not able to regulate it in me so they need to analyze both, correct?

While I didn't understand everything in the article, I have a better understanding of what my GI specialist was saying. He oversimplified his explanation, to say the least. I wish I'd gone to see my endocrinologist a year ago.

I know what I'm taking is the same as synthroid, I just don't remember how to spell anything, lol. I'm going to look into the FB group/page you are recommending, thanks.

My neuropathic feet are currently the worst problem I'm having. A few weeks ago the top ranking health problem was my c-diff infection. I have seen so many different doctors of varing specialties over the years for my feet I don't even remember them all. I finally have a diagnosis but my neurologist hasn't figured what is causing it - yet. Do you know what is causing your neuropathy?

Hopefully my thyroid will get under control before something it affects kills me, my hair all falls out or both. Confused
