I finished a 10 day round of Cipro and Flagyl about 5 or 6 weeks ago. It helped, but then I slipped back into a flare (not sure if it was due to the flu), so the doctor prescribed a 14 day round of Cipro and Flagyl. Is this safe?

Yes, many people have had to be on Cipro and Flagyl long term sometimes. I have had to be on Cipro for a couple months now (and I'm in the process of weaning off) Hopefully another 14 day round will help things out for you!
thank you very much!
I've been on Cipro and Flagyl for years. I wouldn't use it recreationally, but you're unlikely to have a problem in two weeks of use.
thanks, scott ... I was just more concerned about the time since I last took it and now. Lol, definitely not into using it recreationally.
Im sorry for the alarmist post but I wish I had been made aware.
Please consider asking your doctor for a safer alternative!! Cipro is very far from a safe drug I'm sorry. You may want to research the side effects for yourself so that you can give your doctor informed consent and know that you are taking a drug which can potentially leave you with long term or even permanent pain and disability. If you search my previous posts they are full of links or just look up flouroquinolone toxicity, but the latest research is showing these drugs damage cells mitochondria...this isn't something people recover well from, as it's the mtDNA that's damaged.
The former commissioner of the FDA Margaret Hamburg has also just been charged for minimising / hiding the side effects of other drugs in this class (levaquin) due to her close ties to industry.
