Having ulcerative colitis I was told by someone close that I smell almost all the time. I'm an hygiene person however.

No. And again no. Have had mine 11 years never had a comment like that and I have a mom who is brutal about such things. I don't use special drops, don't wear perfume, don't use any scented products. Once in a while if going some place special ill use M 9 drops in my bag and they work great but it's rare I use them.

Seriously, the only time you should have odour is when you empty (but there are special ostomy deodorisers that can combat that).
The bags are odourproof and as long as it's properly done up, there should be no odour about you other than when you empty into the loo (but then everyone, bowel intact or not, has that problem!).

No smell escapes while in the bag and my output typically doesn't have very much smell when emptying.
I have 3 cats and 2 dogs...if there were any smell they would notice it...thats never happened.
no smells here. In fact when I had my very first ileo.. that was my fear.. that my dogs would be bothering with it. But never ever.. not even once... have they ever sniffed the thing. I now have three dogs and my 4th and now perm. ileo. No smelling here!
Nope! I was really careful and took care of my ostomy and it was always great no smell
