I had surgery in 1995 with a reversal and have a j-pouch. In that time I have only had one other issue that I am aware of and it was some very heavy bleeding where I ended up going in for an emergency colonoscopy to see what it was. They said it was really inflamed and I don't recall if they put me on meds or not. Anyway, two days ago I started having a sharp pain in my lower left abdomen. It feels like razor blades are cutting my insides especially if I try to make a bm or urinate. I am also getting sporadic pains when I am not doing anything. My dr just put me on Levofloxcin 500 for a sinus infection and I don't know if this is related or not. I did a general internet search and it appears not.

I have been taking some suppositories (Canasa) I have from 5 years ago and are expired but I dont know what to do. It's not really helping. Stool is liquid and I am going an increased amount.

Any suggestions if this will go away on its own or if I need to go to the drs or ER? I really don't want to but will if you think it would harm my overall health.

Could it be a fissure? Cuffitis? It doesn't sound like pouchitis. If it's cuffitis your GI should be able to see it with just an examination as it is right at your cuff and since you have canassa I suspect maybe that is what you had before. Canassa is used to treat it.

Tell the people that try to push you off to next week or whatever that it feels like razor blades and you have bleeding. If that doesn't work get through to your doctor's nurse! All doctors should have appointments set aside for acute patients.
