Hi All - I have a new problem. My JPouch is still diverted (7 months), and I am due for my takedown in May 6th. I have developed some ultra painful “Diversion Pouchitis”. Fees like colitis all over again (sadly). Has anyone ever suffered from this?

I never had it, but you’ll be happy to know that takedown usually clears it up.
I have definitely heard of that before. My dad currently has diversion colitis. So basically, when the rectum or colon is not being used, it starts to get inflamed causing diversion colitis, and can even happen in the pouch as well.
Treatment for diversion colitis/pouchitis: Clean out with enemas in the rectal area once every 3-4 days. Treat with Mesalamine enemas: one enema twice daily, should clear everything up.
When is your takedown???
Thanks guys. My takedown is May 6th. I will try the Mesalamine enemas. Good color. My GI doctor recommended the same thing. Scarily, the doctor thinks 80% chance it’s Diversion Pouchitis, and 20% chance it’s Crohn’s. Having Crohn’s in there would be very sad for me. I swear it feels exactly like colitis. I had indeterminate Colitis to start with - so it’s possible. Bummer

YAY!!! I am so happy! I understand how you feel but you are so close! I think you should try for the J-pouch, you are so close!
Remember to clean out your pouchy with enemas before using Meslamine.
I had it with my pouch redo, I had very bad bleeding with it. Dr Shen had me come in for a scope and he sprayed it with dextrose(sugar), and then honestly put a tampon in my butt. He told me to remove it several hours later and it was all fine after this.
Amazing! Thanks. They gave me Flagyl pills and metronidazole enemas and it feels better already! I hope it gets better soon. It was very scary. It’s like 75% better.
