Hi!! I just got an update on how to order the new catheters! I truly hope this will help

Hi Erin,

There is no minimum order quantity for the catheters so you can purchase as many as needed.  For the purchase order, using part #15285 with the description 30 Fr 24” Catheter for the 30 Fr and #15295 with the description 34 Fr 24” Catheter for the 34 Fr would be sufficient.  If the hospital would like to place an order feel free to send me the PO and I’ll send it over to production right away.

As far as insurance, it really depends on the individuals coverage.  Since there are so many different plans it is hard to tell for sure, but yes it is possible insurance may cover the cost.

If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to reach out.

Kind regards,

Thank you Lyle,
how many can be purchased at a time? Is there more information on the ordering numbers so the hospital can place an order? For individuals who want to purchase, are they able to use insurance or pay out of pocket?

Hi Erin,

I apologize for the delay in response.  The past few months we have been extremely busy filling orders and unable to produce the new catheters, but as we begin to return to normalcy we can get them made for you.  We are offering a 30 Fr 24”  and 34 Fr 24” catheter in the new flexible material and the part numbers are as follows:

30 Fr 24” - 15285
34 Fr 24” – 15295

Both catheters are $38/unit.  If you would like to place an order, please send me a purchase order and I’ll send it over to production. Hope this helps.

Just an FYI, someone posted this comment in a Facebook group yesterday. It looks like they are still working on improving this product. I might just order 1 or 2 for now, and see what the next version looks like.

I’m still in need of a new catheter (I use the discontinued W&J). I tried the new Marlen that has a bullet tip and is 24” long that is supposed to replace the Weber and Judd. It’s so pliable that it bends in half. 😩 I wrote Lyle Felton and got this response today. Evidently I’m not the only one.

“We understand your concern that the material for the 24” catheter you sampled is too pliable. At the moment, we are offering 24” catheters in both 30 and 34 Fr in the material you sampled as well as our original catheter material which is much stiffer and less flexible. For the future, we are working on offering a 24” catheter in a third material that is the middle ground of our original material and the new, flexible material you sampled.”

I have been using their original, “more stiffer” catheter for years and they bend at the tip after 2-3 uses. So I can’t imagine anything softer. They sent my ostomy nurse one of the earlier prototypes and she gave me one. It was a 34 so I couldn’t use it. Her feedback to them is that we need a catheter that is flexible but with a different more reinforced material at the tip. She said ideally it would have 3 holes, but the 2 holes on the side need to be moved further down so the tip can stay rigid. I’m not sure why they aren’t listening.

Does anyone know how to order the new ones from Marlen?  I tried searching the internet using the item number provided in this thread but I couldn’t find it. Do I just call Marlen directly ?  I’m having surgery and I want to use a continuous drainage bag while I’m in the hospital. The last time I had one I used the W&J catheter. I’m hoping this new soft one will work.

Thanks!

Has anyone found out if Marlen has made the catheter that replaces the weber and judd? I see from a previous post that there is

30 Fr 24” - 15285
34 Fr 24” – 15295
Wondering if these are a little more pliable than their older ones? I'm getting desperate and will probably order to try them out. Hoping these will work better that the old hard plastic one's I have. Why did W&J go out of business!
Thanks!

Yes, I've ordered their 30Fr 24-inch catheter several times now.  It's very pliable and for me , much better. Some people have reported that it bends too easily, I haven't had that problem at all.  This catheter is not sold at any of the medical supply houses yet. You order directly with Marlen Mfg., just google their number. I'm hoping that in the future it will be available at the medical supply houses as insurance would pay for it directly.  I have not tried the other 30Fr 24 inch catheter that has been supplied as well, if you look through these threads, the company, description and item number will be listed.

Do you use the 15285? I’m going to order it and give it a try. Hoping it works better than the one I have from them🙏🏻

Yes, their original one, at 15 inches was stiffer than my Weber & Judd and I had never used short lengths before and for me had many negatives.  This new Marlen is very soft and pliable, the hard bullet tip is only half the length of the original tip but this hasn't been an issue.  In fact, when you pack them and have to fold them, they won't ever have a hard crease and will not cause those kind of issues.  If this doesn't work, then try the one that's on the 2nd page of this thread from Bridgeville Plastics, also 24 inch length. I haven't tried it so not sure how pliable it is.
