For those of you have to dilate the anastamosis area, how small is the opening before dilating? And how much larger does the dilation make the opening? Does it take much to really improve elimination? Thanks for any help.

I have no idea specifically how small the opening is when it needs to be dilated. I had to have 6 dilations done over the course of a year. It finally is staying open now. All I know is every time it was done it was instant relief and I noticed a difference right away.
When I had a stricture recently the surgeon said he could not get a finger tip through the opening- casued pain. At dilatation under GA I recall the surgeon saying that he dilated to 2.4cm ( diameter) with a Hegars dialtor.like mgmt10 it felt so much better immediately after the procedure.
