Dilation

Does anyone have to do the lovely dilation? I need to do this at home procedure post surgery for my stricture they found. I am wondering if anyone has found a best time of the day to do it? Morning on an empty pouch or at night? Any suggestions on handling the pain with it? I had surgery on the removal of the tissue on June 23, 2015 still having pain with the dilation. I am suppose to decrease days and I feel it will scar again if I cut down. I don't want to mess this up and need a bag. I am nervous and this discussion board scares me. I don't want to really know what can all go wrong with this pouch. I have four children and I finally am able to enjoy my baby who is now 3. It has been a nightmare since I gave birth to her. Any help very appreciated

After suffering a perianal abscess and living with a fistula, I started to stricture at the outlet. Surgeon would do dilations under anesthesia periodically.

I currently am in between surgeons, as mine retired, but before he left, I got myself a set of Heger dilators.

3X a week, I pass the 18mm one, and stretch to the sides and back. It doesn't hurt me, but isn't "comfortable." I also use a Canasa suppository on those evenings as well.

I generally empty, then do all of that before bed, as I usually sleep through the night, and feel the med has more time to dwell.

Surgeon told me it didn't matter what time I do it in the day. In fact, he told me to do it every morning, and I do do it in the mornings, periodically. But with the med, I feel like evenings is more worthwhile.
