I’m 33 and have had my pouch since 2007. These last few months have been hell, as I found out I had 2 perianal fistulas which ended up causing abscesses in my scrotum and perineum. I had a seton placed in November and when the 2nd fistula was discovered, another seton placed. Had a pouchoscopy to rule out Crohn’s last month and my GI told me I had one small stricture which she dilated.

She advised me to take an iron supplement due to low counts, so I started Feosol Complete in late February. Once I realized that could be the be the cause of the evacuation issue, I stopped it last week to see if there’s been any improvement. I really haven’t noticed much of a difference this last week.

Could the difficulty be from the fistulas? I was also on Wegovy for pretty much all of 2023 but I stopped it around Christmastime. I’m hoping I didn’t do any permanent damage from taking that? But my bowel movements went back to normal when I originally stopped it, so this has only really been an issue the last 2 months.

What’s your question ? Are u have trouble going to the bathroom ?

Yes. I'm wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this and what was the cause? My GI said it could be from the Wegovy but my bowel movements went back to normal after I stopped it, so she doesn't think it's that. More likely due to inflammation in the area. I'm seeing her next week, but I'm just really confused since I was told everything is healing and that my pouch looked good after my pouchoscopy. I have been on a lot of antibiotics these last few months but I took my last dose last week.

I have not had that issue.  I can tell you if you are backed up and your stomach is just in agony. Go to Walgreens get an enema empty it out and put water in there. That will help tremendously To relieve yourself.  The antibiotics Would defiantly back you up as well.  Maybe as Doc about Rifaxin?

No stomach pain here. Just difficulty emptying. I strain a lot but only a little bit of stool comes out at a time. Here and there a decent amount will come out, but something is definitely off. I have a prescription for Linzess which usually helps me go, but I don't want to have to take it regularly. I will ask about Rifaxin, thanks!
