I'm 5 years post op and gained too much weight. Can people with jpouch do diet pills?

I am not sure about diet pills but have heard on this site not to take any pills that are time released.
"Diet pills" is a rather broad term and could be any sort of thing. Different classes of drugs have different effects, so it depends on what type they are. However, you can certainly diet with a j-pouch.

i have had my j-pouch since 2007...yes, I have taken the diet pill phentermine with no problems and I have lost weight...and I have kept it off for over a year now....I would go to the doctor and get the prescription...I find that taking the diet pills off of the shelf at the grocery store is not good for you and will just give your j-pouch lots of problems...you don't need any more "bathroom" problems when buying the latest diet craze pills off of the shelf at the store...Hope that helps...
