Hellooo! So I'm getting over a cuffitis flare and I have a chronic anal fissure. I think the flare is improving but I have pain as well, sure hope that's fissure related! Lord knows I could use a drink and I can't exactly do that while flaring!
My gastro and other medical professionals have advised that I lose weight. I don't keep a food journal or anything but the need to not eat veggies and fruits has really had me going crazy on starchy, comforting carbs and protein. Sometimes yogurt or ice cream but NEVER just a steambag of veggies like some of my friends get to do, and I did... seven years ago. Or some grapes, or baby carrots. CRIPES I miss chompin on veggies! Now it's juice them or lose them completely.
So, Anyway I have a blender and make smoothies but haven't had one since the cuffitis flare because I'm scared. And I've just gained SO much weight since surgery I've healed all weird in my belly, I haven't worked out regularly so I still feel weak--also regularly. I really let myself go. I'm three years post-op, should I be back in shape by now? I'm running out of excuses for being so unproductive, arguably counterproductive.
I just found out that sitting on the couch and watching TV is really bad for you, as bad as smoking cigarettes and guess what I've been doing pretty much every day the last three years?! Not nicotine, Netflix! HA!

I have been watching too much of the boob tube too for 3 years since the beginning of my flare from hell to surgeries to problems after. My fibromyalgia got worse with all of this and I can't concentrate so reading a book or working is impossible.

I lost a lot of weight after the surgeries as I wasn't hungry as everything I ate was going to hurt as it went through my system. If my husband hadn't cooked I probably would have lost a lot more. I can't exercise as have neuropathy in my feet and other pains....The one saving grace that is helping me maintain my weight is the PlantFusion Protein fruit smoothie I make almost everyday. I get all of my daily required fruits or veggies in that plus 42% of protein and a lot of other good things. It fills me up and I don't get hungry the rest of the day. I only eat something when I have to take a pain pill. I eat a piece of meat the size of a deck of cards and limit my beef to once a week. I also eat pasta and potatoes, which thickens things up. Rice doesn't thicken things up for me like they said it would.

So I'm suggesting you purchase PlantFusion pure all plant based protein and the frozen fruits you like plus bananas. I use 2 cups of frozen fruit and a banana, poor in some cranberry, white grape or apple juice or coconut water and regular water as well as 2 cups of ice. Blend it up and it tastes awesome. You can get creative an add a carrot and use fresh apples and other fruits.

So that's my suggestion, PlantFusion smoothies plus I'd walk for exercise. After you can walk a few miles you might want to add in yoga to a CD or class, etc.

Good Luck. We have not been through all of this to stop now.
Instead of being scared of particular foods, try them in moderation to see how you tolerate them. Things that might have a mechanical effect (e..g. veggies) could be well tolerated in small amounts over the course of the day, instead of a large amount all at once. Don't be afraid to do gentle experiments, and you may have to repeat them to be confident about the results. And walking is indeed great exercise.
