Hello all, I recently had my ileostomy reversal August 7th. Since then I’ve had many issues evacuating stool and gas from my j pouch. Sometimes I get relief, sometimes I don’t. They have done x rays, EUA’s and ct scans that show the pouch looks good and there are no mechanical issues. Would a defecography be helpful? I’ve been going to pelvic floor PT as they believe it is likely muscular. I just want to have a 100% answer to my issue rather than guessing what it could be and maybe/maybe not get better with PT. Thanks

Hi Jessep, I had my last surgery on Aug 15th, and was having a problem with emptying my pouch. I know it sounds really to easy, but try upping your liquid intake. I upped mine from around 60 ozs. to around 84 ozs. I can't believe it, but I have been doing alot better. I feel as though I'm actually empting my pouch now. As far as gas, we all have problems with passing gas. I don't seem to have as many problems as before though, because I no longer have the constipation I had before. Give it a try, what do you have to lose. It really worked for me.
