Hello friends

I got my three step surgery In India in year 2014. Since than everything was good . But from last week I am experiencing thick dark color stools with little pressure while passing the stools . The feeling of pressure comes and go. I thought it might be hemerroid so I examine that with my finger. I don't k ow it was hemerroid of not but I got worried because there was some blood ratios on my finger . I did this examination two days after the first one and same thing , I noticed blood . But while passing the stools or on tissue while wiping the stools I ne dr experience any blood . I am feeling alright as no vomit or no pain , but just thick stools n lil pressure . But now on seeing some blood I am worried. Pleae advice me is there really any thing for which I should get worried .

Also suggest me any doctor here in New York as I don't have any doctor right now . Whenever I feel something bad u call my doctor in India but now I feel I should have one here if any emergency arise.

Nidhi, when hemorrhoids bleed the blood is bright red (fresh), and usually not well mixed with the stool. Because J-pouches have fairly unformed stools, the mixing (or not) can be difficult to see. When there is bleeding from higher up, like the stomach, the blood will tend to turn black and look a bit like road tar by the time you see it, if there's a significant amount.

When you say the stool is thick, do you just mean it's less liquid? I'm guessing you mean that rather than the width of formed (solid) stool. When you say the stool is dark, is it nearly black, or just dark brown? Is the pressure you feel very painful, or just more than you are used to?

Hemorrhoids can be a nuisance, but they usually aren't a big problem.

If you are in New York City there are plenty of doctors familiar with J-pouches, though they are sometimes fussy about which insurance they will accept. I haven't seen a gastroenterologist in New York since the early 1980s, so others will have more current information. Why not try searching this site for the phrase "New York" and one of the words "doctor," "GI," or "gastroenterologist? You'll get more than just doctor's names, but you'll also get what you're looking for, I think.

Good luck!

I am with Scott. You need to be evaluated, even if it is hemorrhoids. Since this is something new, time to be seen. I am also not familiar with NY doctors, but there are many members here who are. In the meantime, calling your doctor in India isn't a bad idea (if he does not mind these long distance consults).

As Jan wrote, we could start guessing, or you could see about an appointment with someone who can do a proper examination. There might be a long wait for an appointment, though - will you be in NY for a while? In any case, the answer to your question is "maybe." The change is of more concern than the small amount of blood. Has your diet changed much? Could the pressure just be gas?
