I had an abscess form from an old seton site (seton was removed five years ago) and a tunnel formed under the skin from this old abscess to new location. Today I had a cutting seton implanted that connects the new tract with the original abscess that was feeding it. Though I've had regular setons before, I've never had a cutting seton. It hurts right now but that's to be expected considering I had surgery today. However, I return on Wednesday to have it tightened. Can anyone give me any advice as to the maintenance of this type of seton, what I'm in for in terms of pain, or length of time it may take for it to completely cut through the tissue?
