Hey, everybody- I won the lottery and was diagnosed with both COVID and the flu a few days ago. I was prescribed Paxlovid but was wondering where Paxlovid gets absorbed...I cannot seem to find any information if it gets absorbed through the colon, and obviously, I do not have a colon. Does anybody have experience with Paxlovid? Thanks and hope everybody is well.

I believe any medication you take will always get absorbed through the small intestine first so I would not worry about that.
I am thinking that the COVID symptoms were starting to improve without the Paxlovid, and I am seriously thinking about stopping it due to the horrible diarrhea and stomach pain. The diarrhea is worse than the COVID symptoms since those had been improving over the last few days.
The purpose of the Paxlovid isn’t to reduce annoying Covid symptoms - it’s to reduce hospitalization and death.
Reducing symptoms does reduce the chance of hospitalization, so that makes no sense.
Dehydration is pretty horrible. Is the gut stuff caused by the paxlovid? Out of the friends I have who got COVID, the one who took antivirals has been sick the longest. Weird, huh? No one went to the hospital....yet.
I am late to this thread but to answer the OP's question, most if not all meds get absorbed in the small intestine. Paxlovid is causing me the most horiible diarrhea ever. I am literally crying and bleeding almost constantly. Is there anything to do?
