I know this is an international forum, but curious how my fellow j pouchers are feeling/prepping with regards to COVID-19.

Here in the states the president has placed a travel ban to and from Europe and specifically in NYC we are preparing for the worst- subways and public schools are still open, so things aren't too crazy, but most companies have people working from home and everyone is discussing the calm before the storm.

Of course we should all be careful, but wanted to see what my special fellow j pouchers are thinking and feeling...

I have been trying to stay positive. I keep telling myself even if I do get sick, I’ve been through hell and back with my disease and gotten through that, so I’m a tough cookie. But this is scary. I’m on Humira for my arthritis - thanks to my fantastic autoimmune disorder(s), so I know I’m more susceptible.

i work at a university and we’ve closed and we’re telecommuting until further. That is a relief bc of the number of students I come n in to contact with daily.

my friends are telling me horror torrid about how the stores are selling out of food and essentials where they are (big cities like Boston).  I have a one year old so I will admit I will stock up on Tylenol for her and extra diapers just n case.

it’s scary but what can we do. I hear that we’re only a week or so away from being where Italy is right now.

I am a registered nurse working in a paediatric hospital.  The emergency room is FULL of people who just need a little common sense.  We are ramping up our isolation processes.

If EVERYONE followed the recommendations by their government health department this viral plague would settle down very nicely.  Wash your hands, do not touch your face, isolate if you are ill.  I do realize that those of us with compromised immune systems need to be extra vigilant.  Instead of being afraid when I go out I have started to make a game of it.  How far can I get without touching anything that someone else may have touched?  How many times have I reached towards my face to scratch an itch but have caught myself?

I can only hope and pray that I don't need to go to the ER for bowel related issues in the middle of this pandemic!
