I started out with Hollister and am using Convatec too. I have tried a few other kinds at my stoma nurses suggestion and am sticking with Convatec. I have a lumpy abdomen so have found using the slim Coloplast thinner barrier rings help it stay on longer. In my case I cut it in half and put it directly under my stoma before putting on the wafer.

Have you tried to use a Metamucil to thicken your output? I use it when my output gets too thin. I use the generic gelcaps as I don't like drinking it.

I received a sample of stuff to put in the bag, called ILE-SORB Absorbent Gel Packets. The directions are to insert the little  packet into the bag after each draining. It dissolves with ileostoma discharges.  It thickens uo the outout and his to make the contents settle in an even way in the bag. I  wish I woukd hav3 had thus stuff w en I had my temporary stoma 5 yrs ago. The samples came from CYMD. I haven't tried their pouching system yet as it is real thin. I think it looks like it would be less cumbersome than all of the other more rigid wafers. You might to request samples from them as well. Their site is www.cymedostomy.com and phone 800-582-0707.

I contacted 4 or 5 companies for samples right after I got diverted back to a permanent ileostomy.  They were great to use when I  was changing almost every day the first month.  I only get 20 per month through my insurance. There are Hollister and others for sale at Amazon.com along  with other supplies. I don't know if they are cheaper on there but I can get them delivered fast if needed.

Sorry for the book. I know how miserable a runny with breakthrough leaking bag can make you.

Take care
