For those who are from Canada and more specifically from Quebec...

I would like to know if you have any experiences or info to share about having a medical consultation at Cleveland Clinic (what procedures do we have to get through?, how complicated ( or easy)is it? Delays? Cost? Wich Dr do you recommand?)

I am asking that because it seems that CC is the best place to go for a Jpouch redo or related surgeries.

Merci

Rich,
I am curious why you would want to go all the way over to the CC when you can get an appt with the IBD center in Toronto at the mount Sinai hospital. And you get to pay out of provience fees and not full fees?
I have never been to the CC but believe that the treatment and care that you get in Toronto is excellent.
Unless you have an extremely complex case, and even then, I would start with Mt Sinai and work your way through there,
I have been the route of surgery in the US and when you are a Canadian it is so much cheaper to stay in Canada.

ps. My uncle went to Mayo for his FAP and 1st surgeries then came back to Toronto for the rest and never regretted it.
Bonjour Sharon,

Thanks for your answer.

One of the reason why I am questionning about having a consultation at CC is that I heard that some Drs in Alberta send their patients there for JPouch. So I am wondering if there would be some less expansive ways to be treated there.

On the other hand I have to admit that I dont know how good is the expertise in Montreal for J Pouch redo? Did you hear about any surgeons in Montreal that would have an "outstanding" experience in Jpouch and more spefically in redo?

Finally, thanks to this site, I discovered that K-Pouch could be an interesting alernative to my case. Do you know surgeons in Montreal or elsewhere in Canada that perform this type of surgery?
Hi Rich,
I am from Montreal and have been going to the Cleveland Clinic for the last 4 years.
I have had 2 surgeries there for a j pouch redo. My finally surgery is In September.
I started seeing Dr. Shen to help save my J pouch (which was done in Montreal). After trying several treatments he said My problems where mechanical so he suggested a pouch Redo with Dr. Remzi.
It is an amazing place and the top doctors for J pouch surgery.
