I've been hearing about alot of people being diagnosed with Colitis that are constipated all the time. One lady told he she hadn't pooped in 6 days???? Since I was diagnosed with Colitis 17 years ago I have NEVER been constipated, ever!! No matter the meds or diet. Regardless I poop everyday! At least 10 times. At my most I pretty much lived in the bathroom. Seriously I would just hang out in there. Cause what's the point in leaving when your going potty close to 100 times a day!? I just don't get it. How is pooping all the time and never pooping the same disease? ??

Both constipation and diarrhea are symptoms of UC; so are fevers, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain, and a host of maladies.  The first 10 years of my UC were all about constipation, a trigger flipped in year 10 and then I suffered with 2.5 years of chronic diarrhea.  I also had fevers and vomiting in the last 2 years before surgery.  During my entire UC history I never once had abdominal pain as a symptom.  My GI could not believe, based on my scope and symptoms, that I had zero pain.  We are all affected differently with this disease.

Although I never had the 'official diagnosis' of colitis, they preferred to call it IBD back then, I had protracted bouts of constipation that lasted dangerously long (usually 7-10 days)  and then once the 'plug' more or less passed I had bloody-watery stools for a few days...I lived this cycle from infancy until my k pouch creation at 18. I have zero memory of ever having had a normal intestinal life.

It got so bad that they actually tested me for Hershsprung's disease but the results were negative.

My k pouch was a major relief from a lifetime on a rollercoaster.

Not sure why it was alway an extreme but that is how it went for me.
