I have UC in remission and developed an anal fissure this spring. It has been being treated conservatively with nefedipine ointment by a surgeon I picked out of the phone book thinking it was hemorrhods. It is not healing and I'm thinking it is time to get an opinion from someone who is recommended, as how it is treated could affect my viability as a j-pouch candidate should it come to be needed. Obviously there s Dr. Varma at UCSF. Any other recommendations? Thanks.
