I have had the Sitz marker test and the defactatory barium rectal test. I have failed the Sitz marker test with leaving 11 of the 24 markers in my colon. I just received this news last Monday evening. So my colon rectal specialist order the barium test to see if there is any pelvic floor issues going on. He had indicated there was upon my visit in his office the week before when he did a rectal exam. So last Wednesday, I had this test and have been awaiting for my doctor to call me back (don't you love when the doc goes on vacation prior to your getting the test results?).
I have been doing lots of reading on the internet and know there is a slight issue with the poop not feeling as if it was all out. I mean, I can push until the cows come home and can't produce any more in the toilet.
My question with the forum here is to find out if any of you have had a gastric bypass and with a colectomy/with jpouch and how this affects your nutrition, elimination so quickly and if so, please share.
My colon doctor indicated in his consultation with me on my first and only visit with him thus far, that it seemed like I was a good candidate for the colectomy but he would have to have tests done first. I have read good and bad stories of the colectomy and am nervous and apprehensive but overall get the feeling that the quality of life can be better without all the bloating, abdominal pains by having the bowel resected.
So today, I am awaiting his phone call and pray I don't have to go in (another $50 copay) and can just deliver the news over the phone for his recommendations.
Also has anyone here had rectocele surgery in combination with the colectomy or is this a special surgery in itself where a gyn surgeon repairs? I would like to get all my bottom parts get fixed at the same time. No use fixing the sluggish bowel to only have pooh hanging to the side against my vaginal wall with the urge to "go" and I can't. Also with the colectomy and j-pouch, I visualize more pooh being trapped with the urgency after meals to eliminate. Sorry for visual here.
Thanks.
