I am currently having adrenal issues and am on Dr. Larry Wilson's adrenal protocol, which calls for doing coffee enemas for detox. Supposedly it helps to detox the liver. I was concerned about this protocol because I have a J-Pouch and wasn't sure if this protocol would be physically prohibitive for some reason. Although I wasn't able to speak with my surgeon who did my surgery in 1993, my general surgeon said that he couldn't think of any reason physically why I couldn't do it, although he knows nothing about coffee enemas and their effectiveness.
So, my question's are....does anyone have any experience doing coffee enemas? If so, are they effective? Can they harm the pouch? Is there any reason I shouldn't try it? I have been very fortunate since my initial surgery and haven't had any issues with my J-Pouch in 27 years. Don't want to start now! Any input would be appreciated.
