I am now a patient in a clinical trial at UC San Francisco. This is a phase 0 trial to test fecal transplant for pouchitis. I have had one treatment and am returning later next month for the second and final procedure. I have to say honestly that the first procedure did not help, but I have guarded hopes for the second procedure. The trial does not pay for your travel expenses, but you do get a $20 Target gift card for a total of 6 gift cards - don't try and spend it all in one place. If you are interested, you can contact Kimberly Leon, the research coordinator at Kimberly.leon@ucsf.edu. One word of advice if you decide to proceed, get a pouchoscopy first. If you have had a pouchosocpy in the past year, the trial pays for all the medical expenses involved in the treatment. If not, then your insurance will be billed. Kim Leon can give you all the details.
