Hi, my daughter is 19 yrs old/ 20 mo post takedown. Was on flaygl once for what they "thought" was pouchitis, no scope. She had numbness in her fingers so had to stop. That was over a year ago. She hasn't had many issues since and when she did start getting pouchitis "symptoms" she would load up on Florastor probiotics and VSL and it would take care of it. Until now. She has been under tremendous stress in college and started having frequency, urgency, some pain and some blood which is really what freaked me out. Reminded me of UC days. So dr put her on Cipro. I am very anti- antibiotics but obviously couldn't let it go. She has only been on it one day.
QUESTIONS: 1. Does she really need to be on it a full month which is what her dr said. I have heard 10 days. 2. I have heard you can become "dependent" on it which scares the heck out of me! Why would this happen? 3. If she is only on it this one time will she have any long-term side effects? I almost regret it already! Thanks for any advice.
