I am posting this for my wife who is in the worst pain I have seen her in, in years anyway.
She had her j-pouch constructed 3 years ago and has had chronic pouchitis ever since, she was supposed to be on antibiotics since, but she has started smoking irregularly since to try and treat her infection which did seem to help her. now she has a bad case of hemorrhoids and due to her constantly going to the bathroom (20-30 times per day),no matter what treatment she uses for her hemorrhoids, it is actually getting worse. does anybody here know any secret to cure or treat this.

So sorry to hear what your wife is going through. I'm in a similar situation myself at the moment.

This may be really humbug, but what really helps is washing or putting warm water on it after each BM. Not just with a bidet but literally in the shower. Another thing that helps is warm half sitz baths where you soak your bum in. For me, it takes about ten days to heal after doing all this. I've also heard that soaking in Epsom salt helps a lot, although it hasn't really made much difference with me.

Another thing is eating bland foods for a while so it won't be that painful when she passes stool. It'll also rest the pouch so it won't have to work as hard.

Another thing is that helps is steroid enemas prescribed by a surgeon.

I hope your wife is only dealing with a hemmoroid and not anything else like a fistula or anything. I've always dealt with my hemmoroids this way and they have always healed but lately, I notice some white mucous coming out which makes me think that I'm dealing with a fistula.

Anyway, if your wife is in that much pain, it's really best to get it checked by a surgeon before it gets any worse. Hope she feels better soon...
omg do i understand and feel her pain..poor dear..first off she needs to get control of pouchitis if antibiotics work there are many ones to use or try..also she needs to try to slow down her bowls like with ammodium. can take up to eight a day..use two at a time..i leo have vicodin i use for the pain in addition narcotic can slow down system..next ,remove complex carbs like bread, pasta, rice, potatoes from diet and sugars except some fruit to help control the bad bacteria and otherwise easy digestible foods.

i understand if she is resistant to all antibiotics then i believe something next step up she can be given..it might be pentasa(antibiotics help me).

for the pain now ..i soak my butt a lot when i am having a run with my pouchitis and i have this plasic bowl if you will (have it so long forgot where i got it) to do sitz bath which simply means i put it on my toilet seat lids up put in hot water from bath faucet ..i have it ready there and i sit on it..if i feel i have to go i remove it and do so..if absolutely necessary until pouchitis under control she can sit on sitz bath with water in it and go..the water helps with the pain of going..ugly stuff i know but just trying to get her through..i assume she uses hemmroidial gels..do not wipe with toilet paper just pat dry and sit on sitz bath..

hope some of this help..just had a bad night and morning myself so i understand add hemmroids and its more than an nightmare..

IMPORTANT THING HERE IS CONTROL POUCHITIS FIRST...
ANOTHER thought here..under such emergency conditions acute i would say..first rest pouch with taking inliquid things if possible..get pedialik at grocery under children's foods..sweet drink little sugar, replaces electrolytes...used for infants with diarrhea then with pouchitis more in control(drugs) follow if you wish my food suggestions
Thanks for the suggestions, Doctors in Toronto are not crazy about pain med's your lucky if you walk out with a couple of Tylenol. Water is not helping much it actually stings like vinegar. I haven't had solids in a couple of days just water some Gatorade and chicken broth. I had some nasty reaction to Pentasa I was never able to take anti-inflammatory's. Hoping my Doc will fax scrip to pharmacy for steroids enema tomorrow. It wouldn't be so bad if my acid broken glass stool didn't feel like acid broken glass stool.
Well, I spent the week at the hospital. I don't have a hemorrhoid, I have a "skin tag" (never have I seen a skin tag that size or one that grows overnight). The chronic pain was a tare in my rectum from straining I guess? Penaten cream is the only relief for the tare, they did a scope didn't see pouchitis but are still going to treat me for it.500mg cipro 500mg metro 2times daily. I also have some perk's for pain. I feel I'm coming home in the same shape I left in. On a positive note I did get to spend the week with the Rob Ford circus.
