Hey guys what's up it's Goody here with yet another question. I just had the first of 3 surgeries for UC and have an ileostomy bag. My doctors say to chew my food really well. How well is well? Chewing my food so it's like applesauce really takes away the taste in some things. Is there food for thought to know how much to chew or should I chew all my food so it's like applesauce? Thanks!

Depends what the food is. Foods with lots of roughage....fresh veggies, fruits, nuts, etc. need to be "pulverized" in order to not clog the works. Same with hot dogs or other potentially "clogging the works" foods. You don't want that to happen, really! Take your time eating so that you are not swallowing chunks of food. You'll come up with a rhythm that works for you. Creamy, liquidy foods don't seem to be a problem. In fact, no food is a problem in my book. I have never excluded a food or drink. I just worked with it so I could eat/drink it! Best wishes.
