Hi everyone! I'm 5 months out of takedown. If you've been following my story, I've been battling leakage and incontinence since my takedown. For the first couple months, I was having accidents every day, then it lessened to every few days, but it never went away.
About 3 weeks ago, I started feeling really good about my pouch. I was still going maybe 8 times a day and 2-3 at night, but I felt like I could usually hold it longer and knew when the pouch was full.
About a week ago I started getting more leakage and having more accidents. One day I had 4 accidents! I called the surgeon and he put me on cipro. I've been on cipro for two days now and I have much much much less bm and urgency. I leaked a bit yesterday, but only had to go a few times. Last night I only woke up twice, just to urinate. Today I have had I think only two bowel movements, both with low urgency.
Is this a good thing? Lol. Is this how it is supposed to be? I hope the cipro fixes whatever the problem is/was. The surgeon said he also wants to get me in soon for a scope.
Could I have had pouchitis the whole time? It was suggested to me a couple times on this forum.
Thanks!
Katie

Cipro doesn't fix sphincters. It does, however, fix pouchitis pretty quick. It sounds like pouchitis to me. Ideally the scope would have been done before the Cipro, since things may already look just fine, but might have looked clearly diagnostic a couple of days ago.

Yes, that's how it's supposed to be. Hopefully a single course of Cipro will fix you right up and hold you for a long time.
