Any opinions on which is more effective/safe? I've been switching (on a monthly basis) from one to the other, and it seems as though anucort is more effective for me, but on a long-term basis, anyone know of its safety? I can't find much on-line re. this issue.

I seem to do best with as little as 3-4 anucort/week. My CC surgeon (a female - I'm just sayin'...) recommends anucort since I seem to experience hair loss with canasa - even at just 3 suppositories per week. OTOH, my local GI recommends canasa on a long-term, low dose basis; he doesn't think hair loss would be due to low doses of canasa.

So confusing. I must take something, as I have chronic cuffitis. Thanks for any insight...

I have had differing opinions on this. My GI and surgeon don't like long term anucort due to skin thinning issues. However, when I saw Bo Shen, he indicated you can take anucort forever. I also experience hair losd with Canasa and find it burns at times.
I do exactly what Jan has suggested. I mix up the dosing of both and try and maintain the lowest dose possible to help keep my cuff happy.

Thanks - I don't know why I didn't think to mix them up! I don't really like using Canasa anymore, for various reasons, and as it kind of hurts until it gets to my pain-free point. Once (or so) a week should be tolerable, though. The anucort is small enough not to be a problem.

Glad to hear Dr. Shen says you can take anucort forever. Try as I might, I could find no data on-line re. this issue. But I figure that if I can keep it at a low dose (2-3/week) I minimize any risks.

Dawn, I haven't had probs. w/acne and canasa. Maybe not young enough for that issue Wink
