Am I the only who has a really terrible time with red meat? I haven't had it in a while and tried some beef again today - I am paying dearly for that decision tonight.

I'm ok with it but I don't have it often. Try it again In the future. I couldn't tolerate tomato sauce for the longest time but now I'm fine with it.
No problem here. Never had a problem, even early post op.

I eat it about 1xs/week but usually substitute lamb for beef...Both taste and texture are better...but I never seem to have a problem unless I overdo it. I tend to eat it grilled or ground into hamburger.
By the way, don't forget to chew it really well.

I also had a problem with red meat in the beginning. I really should try it again but I am like you I don't want the pain but than again I can eat other foods that bothered me also in the beginning. I should try it again in small amounts. I also had a problem chicken breasts but not chicken cutlets or dark meat of the chicken. like someone else said you really have to make sure you CHEW well. Red meat like a steak is pretty much a no go for me. If it is in hamburger form, or some other chopped up variation, i handle it better. Otherwise, i tend to avoid it.
My husband does fine with meat.
All meats have been fine for me as well. Could it be the fat content of the meat? Was it al as this way for you?
I don't eat much meat these days (and virtually no red meat at all anymore), but after my surgery, I noticed beef in particular always gave me increased frequency - not watery stools just a lot of stool, if that makes sense, as well as increased butt burn. But it wasn't terrible, more like a mild annoyance. I've never really eaten much meat anyway, so it could just be that my system wasn't quite used to it.
BTW, my choice to limit meat in my diet actually has nothing to do with the pouch. Just a personal preference.
I don't think it's always been like this? Things were always messed up with 13+ years of active UC, so it's hard to say. But for whatever reason it seems the last couple times I tried beef it was uncomfortable inside and on its way out. I'll have to do some experimentation with types, fat content, etc. Maybe it's just me and not the j-pouch specifically.
I have never had any problems with red or any other meat, and it certainly digests better than most veggies I eat. I only eat red meat once or twice a week though, and favor poultry and seafood and natural peanut butters as my protein source.
No problems with meat other than fish which causes extra gas (but i still eat it!)
I avoid Bananas of all things
I've never had problems with any types of meat. I do avoid steak for the most part since I'm blockage prone, but ground beef is no problem. Meats in general are great for thickening up stool as well (unless that's a problem for you).
Spencer, I avoid bananas, too. They make things too thick... They also give me raging heartburn.
I pretty much quit eating red meat, all I remember is the more I eat, the more trouble I can expect with my pouch. But compared to foods such as your harder fruit and veggies it was tolerable.
I can eat it, but I do pay a price for. It's not too bad so I eat it about once a week. Not my favorite anyway.
