Hi I’m new here thanks for letting me join, I had my pouch made in 2012 I think maybe around thst time my memory not the best been mostly trouble free in r time since then

last 2 weeks though really struggling to go, Feel the need but nothing or very little comes out feels like it’s right there at then end bit just won’t come out or very little Will and then feels blocked, if I manage to pass anything the urge comes back within 20 mins sometimes as soon as stand up, only relief is maybe once a day the pressure becomes too much and manage to go a bit more than usual, when I can go it’s very slow a tiny bit at a time then few seconds another tiny little bit rather than just all coming out at once like used too

I was discharged from clinic more or less straight after surgery as function as pouch worked great more or less from day 1 so not sure how I get back in touch with the department and gp doesent really have a clue most assume I have a stoma when read I have had collectomy

desperate for some relief as work for self as builder had to take today off as was up all night with it and don’t make anything when off had a really tough few years with other issues last I want is this on top quite worried at the minute

any help would be greatly appreciated

thank you in advance

John, sorry to hear of your troubles. After so many years of a carefree life, this must be so unsettling and baffling too.

It does appear that you are partially obstructed and you need attention sooner rather than later. While this is not an emergency yet, it is urgent. So, whatever the process is to be seen within days is what you need to do. After this much time your old surgeon could have easily moved on. So, the best bet is to contact the closest gastroenterology practice, or your primary doctor if that is what is required in your area.

Your symptoms are consistent with small bowel partial obstruction and this can be due to adhesions (scar tissue), prolapsed pouch (various types of collapse of the pouch), or an anal stricture. In the meantime, switch to a liquid diet only with a lot of juice and tea. Do not take any harsh laxatives and definitely no fiber supplements.

Hope you are on the mend soon.

Jan

Thank you so much for your swift reply

thats what I feared after reading up a bit on here while waiting for my account to be approved, I had similar in 2022 when in hospital after I had my heart attack but it cleared up on its own when I got home I assumed it was just the meds but this seems like it’s going nowhere

I will stick to liquids I had been just eating things that generally cause me liquid stools (fatty meats in own with no carb/fibre source) but will cut out and Will phone the rvi where I had my surgery In morning see if they can point me in right direction of where to go to get seen

thank you again for the advice I feel a bit less at a loss now
