Beano does not reduce gas, it prevents it.

It does it by digesting carbohydrates that are not digested by your own digestive enzymes. Left undigested, bacteria work on them and form gas in the process.

Since it works only on particular carbohydrates, it does not digest fats or proteins or other carbohydrates. So, it is not all encompassing. But, gas is mostly due to undigested carbs.

Another way to approach it is to reduce your carb intake (yes, I know that seems counter intuitive), and focus on lean meat and soft fruit and vegetables. However, fructose in high quantities can stimulate diarrhea (that is why prunes are good for constipation).

A simple (but boring) approach is to start out at square one, and have only water and a liquid supplement, like Ensure (which is lactose free) for a few days until things settle down. Have 6-8 cans a day (1500-2000 calories) and add one new food at a time, avoiding the things on the problem list
