Hey guys, I haven’t posted in quite a while but I have had my jpouch for around 7-8 years now. I wanted to suggest something that has changed my life. When I have any problems with my stomach I juice cabbage. Doesn’t seem to matter if it’s green or red, I usually use green though, but I am not on any meds whatsoever. In the early stages of having my “take down” surgery I was constantly having symptoms of pouchitis and only seemed to relieve it with cipro. I didn’t like having to take antibiotics and I tend to notice most medication’s side effects especially with my line of work. I am a ups driver out of Carmel California. I usually average somewhere around 10 miles a day on foot carrying packages up stairs/steep driveways so my job can be pretty physically demanding. The first year or so after take down I wasn’t sure I could continue working at ups. I kept having problems and I was taking a ton of Imodium. Imodium didn’t seem to do anything for me and the only relief was from antibiotics. I came across a thread online about a couple juicing cabbage for their son with a jpouch and how he had been in remission since doing so. I will never forget going home after a brutal day having the worst symptoms knowing that I was going to be up all night and just feeling defeated. My wife juiced some cabbage for me that night before I went to bed. I was prepared to get up constantly that night but I actually woke up the next morning when my alarm was going off. I went to the bathroom and had a normal bm....new normal really. It was like I hit a reset button and it completely eliminated my symptoms. I now juice cabbage from time to time only when I have an issue. I only drink maybe a cup full at a time but have done more depending on what I eat and how bad my symptoms are. This has been a real miracle for me and I have been able to avoid meds because of it. I just wanted to share this and encourage anyone who is struggling to not give up. I have found studies that have shown people’s stomach ulcers being completely healed after a couple of weeks by just juicing cabbage. There definitely seems to be something special about cabbage when it comes to the gut. By the way I’m speaking about juicing...not blending. I don’t go on here much but if anyone has any questions or wants to talk feel free to email me at mollybellacc@yahoo.com or call/text me at (831) 917-1119. God bless!

Hi Anthony
I've been taking Pepto Bismol when I have symptoms. So excited to try cabbage juice. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks for sharing! I’m going to give this a go too. Imodium has stopped working for me too, so hopefully I get the same results x
Well let us know how it works for you guys.
I have had success juicing celery and cucumber first thing in the morning. I read that same article about the child but I was always too scared of the gas, one time i tried juicing kale and it almost put me in hospital. Really eager to try the cabbage juice...
I want to try this. I might be back and ask some questions. It sounds soothing.
https://www.simplyhealthyfamily.org/ here's a link to a site that has three recipes.
How do you find the recipes?? I see a lot of things but not anything about cabbage juice. I want to know how you make it/use it. Thanks.
Recipes are right on the site.
Here’s a very basic cabbage juice that you can prepare within minutes. However, you can only consume this after 3 days.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups of chopped cabbage
- about 500 ml of water.
You will also need the following things:
- Small pot
- Mesh strainer
- 2 1-liter jars
Instructions:
- Start by boiling the water in a small pot. If you are to use distilled water, skip this part.
- Put the chopped cabbage into a blender, and pour water into it. The blender should be about three-quarters full.
- Blend at low speed for 1-2 minutes.
- Blend the mixture at high speed for 10 seconds. You would want to have small pieces of cabbage left in the juice.
- Pour the mixture into the 1-liter jar. Seal it tightly.
- Let the jar sit at room temperature for 3 full days. This will hasten fermentation of bacteria in the juice, which can support good digestive function.
- After three days, open the jar and pour the contents into another jar using a strainer. This should help separate the solid parts from the liquid.
- Cap the jar and store the juice in the fridge. This juice is best served when chilled.

Dancing, sorry I haven't used this yet. My kitchen is in the middle of being remodeled.
Thanks for taking the time to find this. However, I am confused. Weren't you the person who originally posted that they found the cabbage juice to be helpful? But now you are saying you haven't used that recipie yet??
No I'm not. Lol That was Anthony
I am going to copy and paste the recipie but it sounds like it will take a long time to make. Also, I really would like to hear from the person who originally posted.. to know the exact recipie. I find that yeah, of course, we can all google things and find answers but I always like to hear from a person who actually used the the thing they are promoting! How can we get Anthony to do that?
Cause, HOW can you SAY it only takes minutes to make when you haven't made it? It looks like it would take AT LEAST 30 minutes and then there's a lot of clean up!!
At least
Plus it’s not juicing if one is actually fermenting...either make work just seems like two different things
Any juice can be used to juice. Kimchi is an excellent example.
Sorry kombucha tea.
Lol pretty sure I got off topic on that one. Oh well hell. Good luck with your juicing. Hope you find something you can tolerate.
Aimee
Has anyone tried cabbage juicing and had any success?
Anthony is right!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORnmefZu5Cg
Anyone else have any success soothing the guts with cabbage juice?? I haven't tried it yet. Somebody on youtube said to put a cabbage leaf, right after you have rolled it with a rolling pen, right on your but. You roll it up and sit on it. Anti-inflammatory they say! I do that with a perianal cold pack-I just sit on it. This helps the hems too, and it's so refreshing in the summer!
