do not over obsess about it..once you have it and realize that your antibiotic treatment of two weeks? works..it will be just a memory..

i speak from experience..had it once with colitus and i had it once with my pouch about two years ago..as long as you know you have it ,it is treatable you will be fine

however,dr.shen my dr. said to have the test again in a few weeks or a month to make sure one of the spors did not servive..if it did you take another round of antibiotics..

i too had no idea i had c-diff because my symptoms were not like ordinary c-diff symptoms..i was away on a trip nd just not great maybe thinking i ws due to change my rotating antibiotics..long distance dr. shen said to get tested for c-diff(i was in n.y he was in cleveland)and before i left for n.y i had my intern test it..i got the call from my internist telling me it was c-diff so dr. shen ordered the proper antibiotic for me...

after you treat your c-diff you might want to consider taking florester and culturelle on a regular basis the combo as i found out on researching online is used by people to build up resistence to another bout of c-diff..i have been doing so since that time i had it 2 years ago...

the dosage recommended is 2 florestors twice a day and two culturelles twice a day..the lactobasillis gg of the culturelle and the yeast i think in the florestor build up resistence..you can look up c-diff and probably come across what i am suggesting to you..

i predict you will be fine..how did you take test or why?curious..

Thank you. I feel better reading this. I just feel so dirty. I too thought it was pouchitis. Was hsving massive D for about 4 days snd pouch pain. Been given Dificid, new for c diff. I read about those probiotics. I have been taking mega VSL3 all these years. Im surprised they did not help. Can you take floraster and VSL? Going back for culture in 10 days. Thank goodness I have a terrific doctor in NYC
Rebecca,

I have been having the same issues and my doctor just told me to get my stool sampled for CDIFF. The only thing is it isn't as much my frequency, more so that the stool is so liquidity and acidic it burns my rectal area when I go to the bathroom. I also feel as if I have chills as well. Do you think this could possibly be CDiff ive been on cipro for about a month and 1/2 now.

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Cipro ABOLUTELY promotes C. diff growth! So, suspicion should be high.

Ally, VSL#3 does not necessarily retard C. diff. Once you have had it or are exposed to it, the spores can lay dormant for a very long time. You do not need recent antibiotic exposure for it to activate. Just having your resistance low can do it. It is not your fault. At least now you know what is going on and can treat appropriately.
