This post is directed at everyone but in particular ladies as it has to do with lady parts

Background
Last Sunday night I had an incontinent episode while sleeping. I have no idea how long I was sleeping in it before I woke up, but it was a lot, and got all up in my lady parts. I spent about 30 minutes cleaning up using my bidet, wet wipes and ultimately, the shower.

The next day I had irritation as expected, but it was not only on my peri-anal skin, but it was on my out and inner labia and even the opening of my vagina. Raised red bumps that almost looked like irritated hair follicles. I looked because I'd never had bumps before just pain.

I've been doing sitz baths, using my bidet, and trying various creams, and doing a BRAT like diet to lessen my bathroom visits, (which hasn't happened because flaygl and I don't get along, which I was taking earlier in the week)

The first cream was calmoseptine, which normally is my god-send. it made everything more irritated. Next I tried Ilex paste. OH MY GOD it hurt so bad the first time I sat down to go, it pulled the skin apart and since it's really had to get off, I was dealing with it for hours. I think this made matters worse also. So now I'm doing nothing and it is way better than any creams. Occasionally I've been using an antibiotic cream i got after my fistula repair surgery in case anything was open I didn't want an infection.

So to the problem
Most of the area, while still painful, seems to be getting better. The bumps are smaller and the pain is less. However, there is one bump that is on my outer labia that has gotten worse. It is bigger than before, red, swollen and a hard, cream colored cap has formed on it. My thought is it's infected, but I've been taking flaygl and using a topical antibiotic cream, why would it get worse once I started that? Maybe it's fungal? I don't know what else to do but see a doctor. Do I see my Gyno, or my surgeon? Whoever can see me first? (I no longer have a GI doc.) I am going out of town on Thursday for my sister's wedding so I have to been seen pronto, but cannot afford to visit the ER today. (Things always seem to get worse over the weekend)

Has anyone ever had this happen? Any tips or tricks I can try? This is the most miserable I've been with butt issues, it is worse pain than the fistula repair, at least with that I was numb for 4 days. Frowner Help!

Sounds like a staph infection. None of the antibacterials you mention would work unless it is specifically for staph (Flagyl does not work). I know, because I have been troubled by various forms of this, including one inside my nose, that became quite serious.

Call your primary doc, or whoever will get you the quickest response, so you can get on the right treatment right away. In the meantime, hot soaks several times a day will get this draining and on the road to healing.

I am so sorry...these things always happen at the worst possible times.
Hot soaks...for sure...keep the area clean and dry and I would add a dab of poly sporin if you have it to the bump.
It will keep the bump itself moist and allow it to drain more easily.
Try for no unddies if possible or if not then only loose cotton and skirts or dresses...no tight jeans...the rubbing can only complicate things.
If and when you are away (especially when you don't have a bidet) try using a washcloth (a very clean one!) soaked in hot soapy water (a non detergent soap like glycerine works well) and applied regularly (keep a basin with the soapy water beside you and keep dunking the cloth into it or put the damp cloth in the microwave for a minute to heat up.
If possible do not wear pantyhose but stockings to your sister's wedding...the nylon causes sweat and that can cause more irritation.
And whatever you do, no talc!
It makes a pasty mess!

The hard painful bump sounds like the abscess I just had that had to be cut open and drained. The doctor said it is caused by a gland that gets clogged. Sometimes soaking in hot baths can help them drain but if they are too bad/painful like mine was, they need to be cut open and drained.

I hope you are feeling better and get some relief soon. I know that all of this can be very difficult. Good luck and keep us posted.
Try your best to not get the Calmoseptine on anything north of your peri rectal area. This makes for a very uncomfortable problem. You may have a Bartholin cyst that needs to be seen by your Gynecologist. Try using a nighttime pad to keep from having a "messy" night. Kotex makes a good maxi for this. Have used these for a couple of years, and although I still have times when it gets on my "lady parts", I immediately shower to get off as much as possible. You will still have some irritation, that is normal, but it should get better, Use a gentle soap. I take Cipro. Remember that the vagina has it's own flora, and anything flushing that out will upset the flora there.
I am sure you are better by now, or I hope you are. Try the maxi pads, they aren't the sexiest things, but saves a lot of messy nights.
Make sure ALL of the docs you see are very familiar with the surgery you have had. I can not stress this enough.
Hoping you are better Wink
