Bump above incision | The J-Pouch Group

I have a hard bump above my incision. It's not painful if I leave it alone but when I press on it it hurts. Could this be scar tissue or a hernia. I have been working out a lot more, could this have something to do with it. My surgeon said I didn't have any restrictions. Thanks.

I'm assuming you mean your abdominal incision site? Is the the bump small or large? Could be any number of things. If it is small and hard it could be a suture knot that hasn't dissolved, a lump of pus from a tiny internal infection (like an infected stitch, for instance), or scar tissue. Larger lumps could also vary.

Is it red or itchy? And where is it located on the abdomen?

I also have a lump close to my initial incision. It sometimes hurts. My surgeon has told me it is a suture knot and that I might notice it up to a year.

It is located right above where my ostomy was. I don't think it could be from the sutures because it is on the larger side.

Sounds like a hernia. That would be the first thing to rule out.

Yes, if it is larger and above the stoma site, then I agree with Spooky. Time to get it checked out.
