Hi All,
I know I have not been on lately. Things have been pretty good. This may be unrelated and just my quirk, but I bruise easily and really bad. If it is unrelated to jpouch then sorry. Anyways, I was in biology class (I'm in high school) and we had to hope a medium sized fence TWICE. My teacher said if you can't get over it to walk around. I did not want to be the only one walking around, so I hopped it. My leg got stabbed/bumped by the fence. After my legs hurt a lot (this was monday) and I didn't think anything of it. They just were sore. Well I took a shower and I saw FOUR HUGE BRUISES. They look like something from a horror movie. I showed my parents, and they said I need more vitamins since I don't absorb them from my lack-of-colon. I decided to wear a skirt a few days later because I wanted to look cute and my brother saw and said it looked like I had been cleated. I had to explain how no, I am not abused, nor did I fall down a flight of stairs multiple times. I still have the bruises, they are just as bad. Any thoughts about how to get them better? Concerns? Does this happen to any of you guys? Thank you for the responses, and again sorry if I am being annoying or dramatic or if this is off topic. I attached a picture of my bruises lol

Hi Mads,
First off, how are you doing and how is your pouch doing for you? How is life in highschool going?
Yes, I bruise like no one else I know...I just consider it normal in my life...a bruise is just bleeding under the skin (if you pierced the skin then it would bleed out)and I have always been a 'bleeder'...it is partially the NSAIDs that I take (anti-inflamatory meds for joint/muscle pain) plus a real condition...I have D'heller's-Danlos.
When I was a kid ( 15-16) they did all sorts of tests to see if there was a coagulation problem but in the end they just said that I was a 'bleeder and that there was nothing to be done for it; Just to put pressure on any wound that was bleeding or ice any bruises.
Years later they found out that I had D'Hellers-Danlos syndrom which means that my body does not manufacture enough collegene (connective tissue)...so it takes longer for me to heal, I bruise a lot (like you said, very impressive bruising) and look like a battered woman but it has no incidence on my life in the long run.
You could have a vitamin K diffenciency or some other vits and you may be anemic...you can ask your doctor to get tested to see what is 'missing' from your results but I don't know what they can do for this...if there is anything at all.
Hope that all is well in the rest of your world
Sharon
