I have just been discharged from hospital where I was told I was the 'poster child' of J Pouch. However, I have had experienced bleeding (quite a bit and dark one day) and then lighter (in colour and amount) and seems mixed with mucous....as it was in colitis.Along with the cramping, it just feel like I have colitis again. I am hoping someone will just tell me this normal and will change soon (?)

A little bleeding is not unusual. It should decrease over time as you get further out from surgery though, so if you have a sudden increase, do reach out to your surgeon.

It is normal to continue to see some mucus in your bowel movements from now on. The GI tract is always producing mucus and occasionally passes small amounts. It's normally "hidden" because it gets compacted in stool, but since the pouch doesn't really compact anything like a colon, you'll be able to see it most of the time. It isn't a sign of inflammation (unless you start passing HUGE amounts -- but even a small amount every day is normal).
