i had my takedown 4 days ago. I don't eat anything at night hours before I actually sleep either. I only have to empty my Jpouch about 4 times a day, and have had no problems with the pouch besides the leakage and bowel movements during sleep. I sleep with a absorbent pad underneath me and will either wake up with leakage or a large bowel movement that is a thicker consistency, not diarrhea. I really don't know how to prevent this or if you can prevent this I have just been told it will get better in time. I will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow. Like I said the only issues are bowel movements in my sleep along with leakage during the day or in my sleep, usually when I'm sleeping ..alot if gas pain too

I had disposable pads on the bed at night in the first few weeks.  Also was able to borrow some hospital ones from my dad.  I haven't needed them in quite a while.  After a few weeks, I started taking Immodium at bedtime to help slow things down,  and it really helps a lot. I get the Costco brand, 400 pills for a little over 5.00.  It has lasted since late August and I probably won't need to buy more for another week or so.   I also try to eat dinner around 6-6:30 and I don't snack at night.  Low residue diet also helps.
