So a few months ago I asked if my symptoms could be a fistula and that gave me the courage to go again to be checked. I returned to see Bo Shen. The MRI and Barium Enema found nothing. But during the pouchoscopy he found it along the anastomsis line. He filled it and clamped it and told me to come back in 3 to 6 months. I am not happy about having a rv fistula. However after 8 months of symptoms and my surgeon not seeing it during an earlier scope I am just glad someone listened. I had reached a point where I was too ashamed to call her to tell her or to tell my gastro who works closely with her. This is my second time going to Bo Shen and once again he found what the others ignored or were not skilled enough to see.

I'm sorry about your news but I am glad they finally found a cause and treatment for your symptoms. I just saw Bo Shen for my ongoing pouch problems and although Dr Remzi did my pouchoscopy, Dr Shen has indicated I come back again so he can scope me as I am still having issues. I hate the thought of another nine hour travel and possibly not having any new diagnosis in my case, but I'm convinced that whatever other treatments or additional surgery I may need, CC is where I will get my treatment Best of luck to you and I hope he has helped correct your fistula.

Hi! Were you at the CC on Wednesday?? Scope in the am and Dr Shen appt in the afternoon?? I was there Wednesday and had a great report from Dr. Shen!!! I had a scope in the am and saw him in the afternoon. He was behind about 3 hours so between both appts we waited about 6 hours. Totally worth it to see this man!!! He described my "new" pouch as being perfect!! That surgery was done by Dr. Remzi. After so many years of problems and mistakes I am finally at a great place and have great results!!
If it is indeed you that I saw on Wednesday I would love to chat about your experiences.

njk that is great news... well at least that the problem has been found so you can be treated. The thing about those CC docs is that really believe their patients. Dr. Shen and Dr. Remzi both listen and use all of their knowledge and Shen's "bag of tricks" find things and fix things that other docs at other facilities just dismiss.

and dr. shen is ALWAYS late for his office appointments. I don't think I have ever seen him within a 3hour window of when my appt was scheduled. But it matters not at all to me. Because I know that he is helping others who are in terrible situations just like he always does for me.
