blood test results wacky

This week I got some blood test results that were a little weird and I was wondering if anyone could clarify things for me.
The first thing that the Dr told me was that one of the hormones that the adrenal glands secretes was way out of wack. The levels are supposed to be between 100-860 and mine was 6700. The hormone is Aldosterone and when I looked it up it said that other symptoms associated with a high count are high potasium(mine was good) and high salt(mine was high normal). The other thing with the results was that my cholesterol was high 5.6. Weird because I have always had low cholesterol. After my surgery a nutritionist from the hospitol told me to eat lots of salt and that I would not have to worry about cholesterol anymore because I did not have a colon to absorb things.
I am a little confused with my blood tests....my salt was high and my cholesterol was high which I was told I did not have to worry about. Also the adrenal gland thing is concerning and my GP is sending me to a specialist.
Any info on these things would be greatly appreciated!

None of this is because of what you've been eating or not eating, so don't worry about that. The increased levels of aldosterone normally would cause abnormal sodium and potassium levels, so it was either caught very early, or perhaps it is a false positive test and should be repeated. Presumably, your doctor has referred you to an endocrinologist and he will get to the bottom of this. If the result is accurate, this can be serious, as it could mean an adrenal gland tumor (possibly cancerous) or kidney disease. Either way, nothing to play around with. I wouldn't worry about the cholesterol, as it probably is unimportant at this point. The main thing is to repeat the tests to make sure they are valid, and run other tests to narrow it down.

Again, if the results are accurate, they have nothing to do with your diet. Hopefully it was a contaminated specimen and a fluke.
