I'm pretty sure it's a blockage..I'm 1 year and seem to have blockages every few weeks. I can't go to the bathroom, horrible abdominal pain, sometimes it's stabbing pain in the rectum sometimes I have really bad cramps, more often it's all three thingz..like right now..I have horrible pain in my belly, stabbing shooting pain in the rectum in waves that, and have not gone to the bathroom when that urge hits.

And nauseous. .. I usually vomit during this and though I haven't yet I feel nauseous.
Sure sounds like obstructions to me.

Jan I remember you saying one time a blockage is usually not food caused but a weak point in the bowel? Does this mean something that I have blockages this frequent?
Yes, it probably means there is a narrowing caused by adhesions. Since the symptoms are intermittent, the movement of the intestines determine if the narrow spot allows transit, or blocks it.

I am having weird symptoms too, I usually go about 10 times a day no problem, sit down and go. Now I actually feel somewhat constipated and hard to go, I think we get the stabbing pain in the rectum from too much straining. It also feels like my innards are in a cramp or strain. I called my surgeons office wed thinking it was muscle spasms he said I could go to my PCP and get muscle relaxers. Went yesterday but haven't picked them up, I am wondering now if I have a partial blockage or something.....never had one before. I am 2 yrs post take down.
Well we went to the hospital. A regular X ray showed something but was inconclusive, a ct scan with contrast showed that my pouch was full and what could possible be narrowing or a stricture that stopped it all...rest of me looked fine just all in my pouch. She ( my surgeon) will do what she did the first time I had a blockage which is basically a scope, she will remove the stool then examine the pouch and cuff..she has been thinking about taking a little more of my cuff out for quite some time so well see how this goes.
Well after the scope my surgeon said she does indeed want me back for pouch advancement to remove another 1 cm of my cuff. Appt this thursday
Not the best of news, but at least it is better than getting the brush-off and told you are fine!hope all goes well without complications.

My pouch is 20 years old and for the last 6 months I have had similar problems. Bloating, cramps at first I tought it was pouchitis. Today after exam it was stablished that my cuff has narrowed and cannot acomodate anything too latge going thru. Therefore it all stays in the pouch until it liquifies, which ecplains the bloating and pain. I'm scheduled for "stretching"next week. Surgeon said that he might have to do that a few times...a month apart. He thinks that the pouch might have twisted after all these years.
I have chronic obstructions and have had to seriously monitor my food...I'm really close to having to puree everything but for now I just avoid all raw veggies and fruit unless pureed in a smoothie and there are only a handful of veggies I'll go near even when cooked because broccoli, mushrooms, brussel sprouts, etc. cause such problems. I am VERY careful and just know what my body can handle. Some day I may have surgery to try and repair this stricture or whatever is causing them but with a Crohn's diagnosis and 13 surgeries already I am trying to delay that day.
If you have questions for me, please PM..I'm not often on the boards anymore.
