I am two and a half months post takedown and I am always very bloated and extremely gassy. I feel like I am constantly in the bathroom trying to relieve gas bloating and having BM's. Do these symptoms improve with time? Also, I just started tolerating metamucil last week which has helped a lot with irritation but now its just constant cloating and gas pressure. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

I take Bentyl and it helped a great deal with gas. Levison is another one that is sublingual that works but Bentyl is better IMO. You just have to take it after eating or it causes drowsiness.
You can also try chewing 1-3 Beano tablets with each meal, particularly when eating complex carbs. The tablets are to be taken with the first bite of food. They won't be effective if you take them after you've eaten or between meals.
Also, do you take probiotics? If you don't, you should start. Probiotics will help with reducing gas production over time, as well as a multitude of other digestive issues as they contribute to healthy intestinal tract flora and keep the nasty stuff out.
There are foods you can eat as well that are thought to help reduce gas. These include peppermint, ginger, cranberry juice (the real stuff, not the drink), buttermilk, fennel seeds (which can be crushed and brewed as a tea--recommended by my dietician!), and yogurt.

One of my doctors says he can't take Metamucil because of the gas it generates. It doesn't seem to bother me. He uses
Citracel instead. Guess there are several products out there to try.

CeeeCeee makes a good point (actually I'm not sure how I missed this!). I didn't have much luck with Metamucil either. It also gave me gas. I tolerated Benefiber much better.
And yes, it does get better with time. So hang in there a bit longer. All those women above me gave you excellent advice. It's all trial and error at this point.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all of the advice. I will try your suggestions
I chew a couple of gas-x tablets a day and I take citrucel tablets to help bulk me up and they don't make me gassy. If I start getting too gassy and I am at home I lay on my right side and pull my knees up and usually the gas comes out easier for me in this position. Hope you get relief, I had a really bad gas day yesterday, had a hair appt so in between work and appt I came home and did the side thing and thankfully most of the gas expelled, I got in my car and headed for my hair appt (which was very needed) Good luck!
I just had take down about a week ago and doing ok except for the gas. Is there a way to relieve the gas problem without having a bowel movement?
Thanks Steve
Thanks Steve
Steve-love to know the answer to that..takedown was June 12th and I have gas all day that doesn't come alone..as soon as I get cleaned up from the last gas attack the next one comes..trying to figure out how the pouch works as most the bm's are coming w gas
Hi all first time on the forum for me. Like a lot of you I have had lots of trouble with gas after getting my j pouch . The thing that helps me a lot is a tiny homeopathic pill called Carbo veg .. It's a vegetable charcoal and it has been invaluable. Have a go and let me know whether you have as much success as I've had with it .
Just remember not to take any charcoal supplements with or within an hour or two of other medications or supplements. It will prevent absorption.
