Hi!

This is my first time writing on this site. Have many times found great articles here. Felt that people here (with experience) have sometimes more insight on the topics than the doctors themselves.

I will try to make this as short as possible. I had my J-pouch made about three years ago. Everything was amazing. A new life!

Then I had a period last year of pouchitis. With high doses of flagyl and ciprox. Then I continued just with Ciprox half a year and the pouchitis disappeared.

The last five months I have experienced some bleeding when i go to the toilet. Not severe bleeding. But enough to get my attention, and I am worried. overtime i go to the toilet i see some blood in the toilet or on the toilet paper. I have been to the doctor and they are saying they can't find anything that could start the bleeding. And my pouch is perfect. In fact they have never seen a so "good" looking pouch... I feel fine, but maybe a little tired now and then. But this make me really nervous. Could it be something in the small intestine?? My thoughts starts to spin...

He said he will get me checked one more time, to be sure there is nothing wrong with my J-puch. But he said it was nothing to worry about... And that it could be in the cuff, but he didn't see anything in particular.

Have somebody experience with this?? What could it be? Should i be worried?

Hi again!

Didn't find anything new during the new sigmoidoscope either. It is so weird. It is  better now, not so much blood. But got some leakes during night times. But there is still blood.

So afraid it could be something serious. Doesn't seem that the doctors think it is something serious. I have a new colonoscopy next week. I don't get it. Why do they still try to find something in my J-pouch when they never find something.

My thought is that I am maybe allergic to something. That makes me bleed. Because the bleeding happens only occasionally. I had a month vacation also, and i didn't bleed anything during that period. Could it be stress related? Or something i am allergic to at work?

I also bleed every single time I have to strain (and in the last year it happened most of the times I emptied), I keep my iron levels up through a supplement and managed to get normal red cell counts and normal iron and ferritin count so I try not to worry about it. My unique endoscopy didn't find any fissure nor hemorroid, but some inflamation, so I don't know if it's from a sort of chronic pouchitis (don't believe it) or cuffitis (I have half centimetre of rectum preserved), or just hemorrhoids or fissures, but I'm trying not to worry as my ge isn't particularly worried.

John don't worry too much about it, I was worried before discovering that actually bleeding, although not common, happens quite often with j-pouchs.

What other symptoms do you have? Do you have chronic pouchitis? I have a form of light pouchitis (thanks god) but it doesn't make me feel too much sick, I just take antibiotics once a month.

Hi!

I have som symptoms. Not so much blood anymore, but occasionally it happens.

After summer I have got some new symptoms. I doesn't feel sick or anything and my work and daily life haven't changed. But I have a much more urge to go to the bathroom, more than before, and have to go when i feel the urge.

Sometimes maybe to-three times a night. And more when I am at work. It sounds like the symptoms of a pouchitis, but doesn't have any fever. I feel kind of nauseous in the morning sometimes.

It started with blood, and now i just have to go to the toilet more often. And even in the night, something i didn't have a problem with before. It is quite tiring to not get a full night of sleep. Someone had the same symptoms??

J
