Bleeding after dilation | The J-Pouch Group

Good day,

I have stricture of at both ends of my pouch. I was dialed to 13mm this morning. After the procedure I was told I could resume a normal diet. I went out for a fairly large breakfast. Did some walking around after breakfast, came home for a nap.

I had a bowler movement before my nap and there was a bit of blood, no worries there. After my nap, I had another bowel movement and this time there seems to be a greater amount of blood. I realize this is blood mixing in with stool. There is a decent amount of blood in the bowl and in the toilet paper.

I don't have pain other than a slight pinch in the anal area when evacuating. No other symptoms other than some anxiety because of the blood.

After reviewing some posts on this forum it seems a few people have experienced the same thing.

It's now been 7 hours since the procedure. I'm wondering at which point should I become concerned and go to emergency/call my Dr? Should I wait for a few more BM and monitor the blood output etc?

Just looking for some advice! Thank you.

I should add. This was balloon dilation.

It’s probably fine, but: I can’t tell if both strictures were dilated, and in any case you might want to call and ask the person who did the procedure the same question you’ve asked us. Do your post-procedure instructions offer any guidance?

Hi Scott. Called the Dr. He said it's normal but it's been a long time since I've seen this amount of blood in the toilet. I'll give it a day and I'll go easy on the food for a while. Cheers.
