I have recently (within the past 3-4 weeks) been experiencing pressure (like I have to go to the bathroom) during running. I have been running for several months now, post surgery, with no problems. When I first started having this pressure it would be about 2 miles into my run, now I have it pretty much as soon as I start. I have also been noticing bleeding in my stool right after running. Not sure how long the bleeding has been going on, after first I thought it was just something I had eaten and didn't think much of it.

This last week is when it started to get MUCH worse and not only was I having the pressure as soon as I started running, I was in pain for the rest of the day, and also had more blood (although still not a lot, compared to with the UC). On Thursday I tried the elliptical thinking this would be a little easier on my body than the running. 15 minutes into it I stopped to go to the bathroom and there was more blood, and same thing with pain lasting most of the day.

The doctor went ahead and did some blood work and the only thing it shows is slight anemia, which I had a problem with even before the UC and J-pouch.

Anyone else experience this?
Sunshine,
Walking, running, bouncing on a trampoline or just about and sustained physical activity that repeatedly shakes or puts pressure on your insides can cause problems like that...granted not all of us have them but not all of us run post pouch surgery either....I used to do the 4 May walk-a-thons where I come from (1 for a different charity each weekend in May)and by the end of each one I had bloody stools, cramping, diarrhea etc...I was told by my doctor that sustained physical activity stimulates the bowels ( that is why they tell older people to walk more to stimulate things and keep them moving) which is a good thing but over stimulating them through running can make things worse...
Is there any way that you can try an alternate type of workout to test things? I no longer run (wasn't that good at it to start with but it killed my pouch and knees...too much shaking things up in there)...so I do stairs and hills instead...my workout is just as effective, even more so I think, but I am not shaking anything up because there is no bouncing. Worth a try.
