I am considering a Biologic. Pain and fatigue is really beginning to interfere with my life. I am exhausted and sore after going grocery shopping! On a recent three day weekend getaway, I was sore and tired from Saturday well into the workweek. (I am getting iron injections. Oral iron brought up the hemoglobin, but not the hematocrit. I have no B12 deficiency.)
My concern is further compromising my immune system. Example; I started getting cold symptoms, a sore throat, early Saturday morning. It’s Sunday and the pain and fatigue from a head cold are so severe I can hardly walk. All my joints hurt, but I have no fever. Will biologic medication make me more prone to virus and infection and the accompanying pain and fatigue?

About 6 months after my takedown I was still going around 30 times a day and had a lot of trouble with incontinence. We tried Humira as a last resort (I'd had an allergic reaction to Remicade before surgery). I made a huge difference and I'm glad I tried it. However I will say that while I went from being absolutely miserable and ready to cut the dang pouch out myself, to being much better, I still have needed to stay fairly close to home. And the last couple of months have been downhill.
I will say I have been lucky enough not to catch a cold or the flu since even being around sick kids a couple of times. So I can't really advise on that. The only major side effect for me has been that I've started having some signs of tooth decay. So I have to be really good about taking care of my teeth.
In my opinion, if you are feeling really terrible as it is and you and your doctor have ruled out other possible causes, I think it's worth trying something new if it might improve your quality of life. If it doesn't help you can rule it out and look elsewhere, knowing that you tried it. Not a real definitive answer, I know, but I hope it helps!
