Those of you who followed my recent ordeal know that I had a bead like nodule under the skin near that acted up after two or three months and sent me to the ER last Friday to be excised and then again on Monday to be re-excised.

It did drain but today, I'm noticing that while the cut adjacent to the original abscess is still open, the area where the abscess was still feels like a bead under the skin (it's still hard). This has me concerned that perhaps they didn't fully hit the right area or that it's actually a fistula that needs to be opened.

They ran a CT on the area but want me back in two weeks again for a follow up and possibly an MRI recommendation. Is an MRI more accurate than the CT Scan in detecting fistulas?

After my MRI, we did an EUA, but he had a hard time finding the tract (though he did), and placed the seton. Had we only done an EUA, he said he likely would have missed it, without the MRI/MRA results.

CTs are not sensitive enough to show a small fistula tract. The CT I had showed nothing at all. You need the fine slices of the MRI.
