I was told that the radiation I had for the colon cancer damaged my jpouch and the muscles around it.  Was told can not redo jpouch because of the radiation.  So I was told only thing to do is a ileostomy to relieve the pain and the 20 bowel movements I have a day.  Any one else ever have  a pouch redo after radiation.

Tim.

I had my pouch removed after two plus years of problems.

Now if you can go a different route... Yes... I would have my self.

I was more or less terrified to have to have an ileo the rest of my life.

But after a month plus I find it was the right choice and I can live with it.

Now... I am near 60 yrs old.  Didn't want to spend years trying different things.  But if you are a young man I would explore my options.  Otherwise an ileo eliminates... Well it did for me.... Eliminated all.... ALL... Of the problems I was having.

Of course I have quite an adjustment to make but I feel it is coming along better than I would have ever expected.

And like I said I was terrified to do this.  Because there is no return.

I would explore the other options.. K pouch... Bcir... These were not right for me.  It got to the point in the last few weeks I did just want it out.  It was wearing me out.

There will be more advice coming.  But if the ileo is your option.  Don't be afraid.  I was for nothing.

I wish you the best.

Richard.
